Turkish Cultural Centre and The Department of Malay Studies, National University of Singapore co-organized a seminar on "The Impact of Islamic Law on the Universalization of Human Rights" by eminent Professor Recep Senturk from Fatih University, Istanbul.

Professor Senturk focused on examples from Hanafi Law in his talk. He compared the universalistic and communalistic perspectives of Human Rights in Islam. He argued the notion of "I am therefore I have rights". His article on "Sociology of Rights: "I Am Therefore I Have Rights": Human Rights in Islam between Universalistic and Communalistic Perspectives" will be on our web site soon.
